The shoe at a glance.
The Cloudultra 3 is a steady companion for everyday trail miles and longer outings on well-kept paths, combining a durable upper with a firm, rolling ride. Its protective nylon Speedboard adds underfoot structure, giving the shoe a clear emphasis on protection and consistency. Modest bounce and less convincing traction on demanding, slippery ground limit its appeal for runners seeking a more dynamic or technical option. Length is generally true to size, but the snug midfoot and tapered toes deserve attention if your feet need extra room.
Pros and cons
Our summary of published testing and reviewer impressions. Checked 2026-10-03.
Pros
- A steady, predictable platform for easier trails.
- Durable construction with good overall build quality.
- Useful for mixing running and hiking.
Cons
- The ride provides limited rebound.
- The close upper may feel restrictive on higher-volume feet.

Where it fits in your running
Recorded uses: everyday runs. Designed for trail running.
Recorded terrain: mixed trails.
Cushioning and ride
Published testing found a substantial improvement over the earlier model. The controlled, rockered ride is most relevant on gravel and easier trails rather than for runners seeking maximum bounce.
Our editorial ride category: firm.
