Start with distance and surface
Choose your race surface and distance before narrowing the list. Check the exact shoe’s recorded race distances where available. Being in the race category does not mean every distance or terrain has been verified.
Read beyond the plate label
Compare the complete design: recorded uses, brand-listed geometry, fit notes and the stated tradeoffs. Carbon, other performance plates and protective rock plates are separate entries in the finder. A missing plate field stays unknown.
Ask a useful try-on question
Bring a familiar pair as a comparison and decide what you want to learn about the new shoe’s fit and feel. Save your notes beside the shortlist. A newer model, lower listed weight or higher price does not establish which shoe works best for you.
